Dear Parents/Guardians:
As your child’s Physical Education teacher, I look forward to an exciting year working with both you and your child. Your child will be educated on the fundamentals and enjoyment of movement, fitness and health. I encourage you to take part in this program whenever possible. Your commitment to wellness and healthy lifestyle will be beneficial to both you and your child. Volunteers are needed to help with large classes--identified in bold on the elementary PE schedule.
TIPS TO REMEMBER
SHOES: Volleyball, basketball or running shoes that have heels are appropriate for P.E. Students WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE FULLY if they have anything but tennis shoes on including but not limited to sandals, jelly shoes, high heels, heelies (wheels on shoes), snow boots, etc… Proper shoes for P.E. are a health and safety necessity for your child.
CLOTHING: Please have your child wear comfortable clothing. If a skirt is worn, please have your child wear a pair of shorts underneath the skirt for class.
ALLERGIES/INHALERS: Please inform me if there are any allergies such as bees, etc… If your child has asthma it is recommended that they bring their inhaler to class.
SICK/INJURED: Please send a note from home or a doctor’s note for my records if they cannot participate that day. If they must be out for a lengthy period, I will require a note to explain time length and specified activities they can and cannot perform.
5TH GRADE STUDENTS: Although stated in the handbook, students will not be taking showers this year but will have a chance to “freshen up”. Please have them come prepared after the first week of class with a combination lock, fitness clothing that is not jean material, proper P.E. shoes, and roll-on deodorant. NO SPRAY DEODRANT, PERFUME OR COLOGNE ALLOWED!
Feel free to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns. I’m looking forward to a rewarding year with you and your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. School
