HEALTH 7 EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS
Instructor: Ms. Wendy School, B.S., M.S.P.E.
Welcome to a class that is fun and exciting! We are glad you are here! The following are a few guidelines and expectations that you need to know in order for our semester to ROCK!
 
  1. COURSE DESCRIPTION
  1. Personal Health: Hygiene, Wellness, Fitness, Decision Making
  2. Mental and Emotional Wellness: Communication Skills, Suicide Prevention and Intervention, Conflict Resolution
  3. Nutritional Wellness: Label Reading, Weight Management, Disordered Eating
  4. ATOD: Alcohol, Tobacco, Club Drugs, Chemical Dependency, Alcohol Poisoning, Interventions
  5. Sexuality and Healthy Relationships: Reproduction, Abstinence, STI’s, Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention
  6. Emergency First Aid and CPR: CPR, Obstructed Airway, Child and Infant Rescue
 
  1. CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
  1. NO PUT DOWNS ALLOWED!
  2. Honesty: Exactly what it says
  3. Respect: Yourself and others in thought, word and deed
  4. Responsibility: You are responsible for what you learn
  5. Compassion: For yourself and others
  6. Courage: Have the courage to challenge yourself and think outside of the box
  7. Justice: Be fair to yourself and others
 
  1. ASSESSMENT/GRADING
  1. The Thorp School District uses a grading program that can be accessed from home. Grades will be updated every week to two weeks depending on due dates of assignments.
  2. Late work will be due the next scheduled class period with the exception of excused absences. Students will receive full credit minus any deductions. If late work is not turned in by due date, students will receive a homework detention at which time the assignment can be completed.

  1. SUPPLIES
Students must provide their own writing utensils, markers or colored pencils as well as a notebook for note taking and a separate Health folder.

4. QUARTER HEALTH PROJECTS
Students will be required each quarter to do three hours of community service and complete paperwork.

Grades will be based on a cumulative point system to include performance points, assignments, tests, quizzes and health projects.
 
98-100 A+             95-97 A                       93-94 A-
90-92 B+               87-89 B                       85-86 B-
82-84 C+               79-81 C                       77-78 C-
74-76 D+               71-73 D                       69-70 D-
68% OR LOWER IS A FAILING GRADE
 
  1. SUPPLIES
Students should be prepared everyday with a pencil, pen and notebook. It is also recommended that students maintain a portfolio binder or separate Health folder for organization. Markers will be necessary for certain assignments.
