Hi, my name is Rachel Devine. I have been teaching in Thorp since 2012. My first five years with the district I was a 5th/6th grade reading and language arts teacher. This year I have a brother who is a senior at Owen-Withee, so my year will be filled with a lot of sporting events. My husband also loves baseball and he plays on a summer league, so we are very busy with sports even in the summer.

I grew up in the Owen-Withee area. I attended the Owen-Withee School District and graduated in 2007. After high school, I went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at UW-Eau Claire. I attended UW-Eau Claire for a year and then transitioned to UW-Superior, where there were more “small-town” opportunities for me. At UW-Superior I was a tutor in the writing center, a tutor for the Upward Bound program, and a tutor/assistant for a Geology class. I also was co-president of the Future Teachers Association. As you can see, I have always had a passion for helping others, especially students. Teaching isn’t just a job for me, it’s a passion.

Good day all!

My name is Jennifer Roder and I am the new math interventionist. I graduated from Elk Mound High School and went to UW-RF to earn my degree in mathematics and 6-12 education and a minor in broad field science. Later I earned my Masters from UW-LaCrosse and went back to UW-River Falls to earn my alternative education certificate.

I currently live just outside of Elk Mound with my husband, Tony; my son, Sam; and my daughter Grace. We also have a German Shepherd named Captain America and a cat named Pickle whom we all adore. My kids go to Elk Mound High School and play a variety of sports.

This is my first year at the Thorp school district, 19th year of teaching, and I am excited about getting to help our fabulous teachers turn our incredible students into math rock stars!

Mrs. Beloungy-Librarian

Hello! My name is Julie Beloungy and I am excited to be the new Library Media Specialist at the Thorp Elementary and High School Libraries.
I grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from UW Madison with a Bachelors of Science degree in Landscape Architecture. After working in a public library for almost 12 years, I have enjoyed helping people find the information and materials they need. It is also so rewarding to help a child find a book that gets them excited about reading and I am thrilled to be working in the school libraries now. I am currently enrolled at UW Milwaukee to earn my Library Media Specialist Certification and look forward to working with the students and staff at Thorp!

I live in the area with my husband and two daughters who both attend school in the District. I love to spend time with my family, run, and travel anywhere that has water and hiking trails.

Please stop in either the Elementary or High School library to see the wonderful spaces, staff, and resources that we are proud to offer the students.

Mrs. Thidemann-Library Assistant

Hi! My name is Barb Thidemann and I work in the Elementary/Middle School Library as the library assistant. I am also one of the District's website content managers and the facilitator for our Makerspace program. I started working in the Thorp elementary library in 2015. I have a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from UW-Stevens Point.

I really enjoy working with the amazing children in our school district and sharing my enthusiasm for reading with the students. My favorite challenge is to get a reluctant reader excited about books. I love books and I love kids so this is the perfect place for me!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. My favorite activities are camping, hiking, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, photography, writing stories, and reading.
